9 Positives about cancer. Here’s what I’ve learnt

I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But cancer has taught me a lot.

You never forget. You never stop worrying about recurrence. But, as crazy as it sounds, I feel like cancer has been good for me. Here are 9 positive things I’ve learned from cancer.

1. That there is life after cancer. A happier, healthier, better balanced one.

2. That cancer would teach me to appreciate everything differently.

3. That cancer would become an opportunity. A fresh start. A new career.

4. That my reason to exercise would change completely. That consistently eating well makes me feel amazing. What self care actually means.

5. That I would almost completely cut out alcohol. And that socialising sober is really ok!

6. That my friends are so incredible. And that I would meet and engage with so many wonderful new people.

7. That I would learn to say no and draw boundaries. And that I would learn to say yes and be brave about new opportunities.

8. That the mama bear in me is so fierce and protective. That my kids really are my most important thing.

9. Perspective and patience. What’s actually important to me. What not to waste my worries on. That life is short. And that I want to make all the magical memories I can!

I am a better mummy and I cherish the moments more - thanks to cancer.
